Son of Barry Alcock, who played in goal for Stafford during the 1980s, Danny was signed at the beginning of August after being released by Accrington Stanley. He spent three years at Stoke City and progressed to the Reserves but left to make his Football League debut for Barnsley in April 2004. Danny spent the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons at Accrington Stanley, making six Nationwide Conference appearances and did well after taking over from the injured Stafford keeper Dean Williams in September 2006.
